Picture for fourth day was taken at 6:15pm. The squirrel's head appears to be hollowed out by maggots and other insects and there is considerable drainage under the body and large numbers of maggots. The ants seem to be doing their part in disposing of the squirrel and they are carrying off some of the maggots, nothing goes to waste everything is food for something else, even the bones will nourish the soil when all else is gone.
Even thoughI am covering the squirrel with a mesh basket to prevent carrion eaters from taking the body, you can see that the squirrel has been moved since our last picture.
